30 minutes with Dungeon Runners

Dungeon Runners is dripping with venomous sarcasm that coagulates into an almost sickeningly jaded gem of irreverence. This bastard child born of the bloodline of Diablo and World of Warcraft is a mind numbing, dungeon crawling, loot whoring, click-fest, polished and waxed to a sparkling finish. I ponder whether or not the chemistry of this game’s simple Diablo-esque/Fate-esque game-play combined with it’s Kingdom of Loathing like no regard attitude and disrespect of the mmorpg genre will be capable of retaining the interest of anyone that would even be willing to give it a go. Dungeon Runners doesn’t quite come across as a compelling, fun, and simple hack-and-slash rpg such as Diablo, or a brilliantly crafted mockery of the rpg genre such as Kingdom of Loathing. Instead, its uncomfortable tone and seduction based velvet rope “play for free as long as you want unless you want the really good stuff” business model leaves me feeling kind of cheap and dirty; like getting a free lap-dance from a vegas stripper and not leaving a tip.
